  1. Set aside a regular time every day to read to your child.
  2. Go to the public library together. Help your child get a library card.
  3. Find out if your library has any summer programs for students.
  4. Limit television viewing by helping your child select one or two shows to watch.
  5. Write notes to your child.
  6. Help your child write a letter to a friend or relative.
  7. Give your child a calendar to keep track of summer or special activities.
  8. Make or buy a scrapbook for your child to start a collection of stamps, animal pictures or flowers.
  9. Give your child a book, or a game, that requires reading, as a gift or reward.
  10. Have your child read to you or other family members.
